| Raffles 2011 Basketball Championship |

May 08, 2011 witnessed Raffles student council organizing a basketball competition amongst our current students, alumni and staffs. The objective of the event was to foster closer relationship amongst students of different discipline, and staff in a competitive environment. The innovative spirit could be told of the method of organizing the competition. There were a total of 4 teams in a round robin competition. Each team comprised 4 males and 1 female. The Raffles Basketball team was split and each team had its share of the school players. The competition started at 11 am on Sunday and lasted till 4.30 pm. A total of 22 players and officials played and supporters were present in cheering the winning and losing teams. During the intermission, best shooter event was organized and student Bat-Orgil with his skill got the best shooter medal. The champion belonged to the Raffles captain team (no doubt) together with Uuganaa’s team. The Best player went to Temvge. The silver medalist team went to Wolf team and they lost by a narrow margin which gave us the hint of good competition. The staff team got the wooden spoon prize. All ended with everyone happy with expending their energy and sweating out on the court. As the centre director said, the competition brought together the fighting spirit of the school and to remind all that we use sport as a form of networking with each other. All agreed that it was time well spent on a Sunday and expressed desire to have similar sporting event in the near future. We study hard and we play hard too! |
